Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS)

SIRS is the body’s response to Infection and/or Inflammation
It can also be caused by a variety of non-infectious entities
SIRS is non-specific.
When SIRS is encountered in the context of known or suspected infection, it is referred to as sepsis.
Sepsis can be further subdivided into severe sepsis and septic shock.
